Offshore Film and Video is owned and operated by Patrick McLoad, who began professional video work after graduation with a Bachelors Degree from the University of Houston. Selected out of a field of over one-hundred applicants, Patrick’s first job was with NL Industries as a video producer, photographer, and print coordinator, producing training media under deadlines for use at NL’s Career Development Center.
In the late 80’s, he was busy producing a large number of technical and safety training videos for the American Petroleum Institute. For example, the topics of these video programs ranged from compressor, heat exchanger, and fired-heater operations to chemical HazMat, ISO-9000 compliance, and Incident Investigation techniques.
In the 90’s, McLoad was approached by an Enserch Exploration to begin a 3-year project to document the fabrication and installation of an offshore oil/gas facility in the Gulf of Mexico. Mr. McLoad also produced similar documentaries for BP, TOTAL, Triton, and Atlantia Offshore to name a few. It was at this time when Offshore Films, Inc. was formed, and the chance to get his personal name out of the company name. Some of these long-term projects took him and his crew to to far-away places such as Equatorial Guinea in West Africa, and to the far western coast of Venezuela. More recently, numerous trips to Trinidad/Tobago were made for a pipeline company. But for the most part, shooting occurred along the Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi coasts in various fabrication yards.
It is because of this extensive exposure to oil/gas/petrochemical related work that Offshore Films is able to easily grasp mechanical concepts and communicate these concepts through the video medium.
However, with a company name like Offshore Films, many erroneously assume that offshore oil/gas is all we do. Admittedly, when you work in Houston, Texas, big oil is on everyone’s list of clients. Many of our clients have nothing to do with oil, or offshore, for that matter. We’re just as experienced in working with insurance companies, architectural firms, and engineering companies, so don’t let the name keep you from approaching us with your communication needs.![]()
